Please note that is a re-scheduled maintenance for the DNO Electrical shutdown which was originally due to take place on 30th April 2021. This maintenance could not go ahead at this time due to the Utility company encountering issues.
As part of our commitment to quality and standards, there is a requirement within the building that houses our data hall to isolate the buildings electrical supply for a 48hr period to allow the local DNO to carry out a new substation switchboard installation.
What will happen?
Datacenter electricity feed will have a controlled shutdown and isolation prior to the main works taking place, this is to install and attach a main supply generator onto the LV switchboard. Whilst this happening the site will be on the normal site backup generator.
After this has been successfully achieved, the load will transfer onto the newly installed main supply generator. This will take the load and run until all of the Utility DNO work is finished.
Following this, the operation will be reversed with the site going onto standby generator whilst the temporary main supply generator is un-installed.
Once this is complete the Utility DNO will re-energise the utility feed and allow the site to transfer back over to the main supply.
This extra work by will ensure there is resilience within the DC throughout the utility DNO works period.
Please note that the main building supply work will affect the buildings power, lighting, electronic access control, security cameras and fire system and as such we will not be allowing customer access into the DC (except in extreme emergency) for the duration of the works being carried out.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE SYSTEMS WILL BE UNAFFECTED WITHIN THE DATA CENTRE.
When will the work be carried out?
The work will be carried out over a 48-hour period from Friday 6th August 2021 until Sunday 8th August 2021, provisionally beginning at 12:00 (BST). This will be confirmed by the DNO 72 hours prior to this date.
Access requests should be raised through your control panel as normal. Ticket replies will advise of any changes to timing on the day. Planned Maintenance Notification
Who will be completing the work?
A local DNO (supply authority) High Voltage Authorised Persons alongside Specialist Generator Contractors will be completing the work.
Additional Security personnel will be on site due to the possibility of compromised access control.
Data Centre Services Manager & Electrical engineer will also be on site to supervise throughout the period of works.
Will I experience downtime?
As with any maintenance there is a risk of downtime. Works are being carried out on all parts of the buildings electrical system, therefore installing secondary generation to ensure the Datacentre is available as usual. Works are expected to be non-service affecting. IT load will be protected from supply failures by our UPS and resilient generator systems.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO SYSTEMS WITHIN THE DATA CENTRE ARE PLANNED TO BE AFFECTED.
